As one of the most important exposition in the region, the 15th session of Telecommunication and Information Technology Exposition "Shaam2009" was opened on Wednesday on the ground of Damascus Fair city in the presence of Telecommunication and Technology Minister Dr. Imad al-Saboni, the Syrian Computer Society's Head Dr. Rakan Razzouq, officials and concerned parties.
The SCS considers this event as an important activity because it serves one of its main goals related to help building the ICT sector in Syria.
Speaking to "Shaamexpo" website, the minister said: "The exposition is one of the most important activities launched by the SCS and it is destination for communication between visitors and exhibitors”.
He added that it includes workshops and lectures as well as meetings to be briefed on latest developments.
"We annually benefit from this event as it opens dialogue between the ministry which organizes ICT sector in Syria and market represented by participating companies", Dr. al-Saboni said.
For exhibitors, Shaam exposition is an opportunity to talk about problems and obstacles that face Syrian products and services to avoid it.
The minister noted positive results of dialogue that help remove obstacles and reactivate cooperation between public and private sectors.
He affirmed that Syria keeps pace with technology developments that have swept the entire world in all domains including telecommunication, mobile, Internet, IT solutions and e-services.
Meanwhile, Head of the Syrian Computer Society Dr. Rakan Razzouq said that Shaam exposition is an important opportunity to show products and to exchange experiences in ICT field which is rapidly developing.
He cited that products which are suitable for Syrian market are shown, stressing that the exposition present integrated software solutions to those who are interested in this field.
Director of Arab Fairs Group, Mr. Alaa Helal said: "Visitors from all Syrian cities visited the exposition during the first hours of opening".
He stressed that Shaam exposition is developing in respect of exhibitors, visitors and products; pointing out that this session attracts participants and visitors from the neighboring countries.
It is worthy to note that Shaamexpo2009 is mounted on an area of 15.000 square meters and includes four main pavilions for software, telecommunication and IT, solutions and equipment, and selling market.
This event covers a good number of related ICT activities including: Telecommunications, networks, equipments, solutions and applications for internet, software, sophisticated computer equipments, multimedia applications and computer accessories, Internet Service Providers, hosting and designing websites, switchboards and mobiles.
Some 729 trade brands from 42 Arab and foreign states are taking part in the five-day’s event being held on the ground of Damascus Fair City.
Time of visit is from 12:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m.
