The system of e-payment has a great benefit for economy as it is safe and easy to be used. In addition, it doubly push the economy forwards especially if it is controlled well.
Today, everyone realizes the importance of electronic transactions for governmental businesses because it facilitates services being offered to people, public and private enterprises.
Therefore, The General Telecommunication Institute and the Emirate GET group have set up "e-services settlement" limited company, which offers services of settling bills electronically for Syrians.
Mr. Haitham Mansor, the company's Director, said: "The company allows people to settle telephone bills and to inquire about bills of water and electricity and other governmental services".
The company's services are available in all Syrian cities except the eastern area in which would be reactivated in the first quarter of 2010.
Mr. Mansor noted the contact with the Ministry of Electricity to ensure the right infra-structure to launch the service of settling electricity bills.
"You can dial 163 to ask about the bill and to settle it by entering the card number and password... the cost of the call is four Syrian pounds", Mr. Mansor said.
The cards are available (of the value 100, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5000 Syrian ponds) at all telecommunication’s centers.
Moreover, citizens who have account in the Central Bank of Syria (CBS) or Real-Estate Bank can settle the telephone bills through ATM machines.

It is worthy to note that the company was founded on October 1, 2007 with a capital of 50 million S.P. shared between telecommunication establishment (25%) and GET group (75%).
